Empowers Students to Show their Learning and Gain Confidence
Katherine is teaching a Year 5 science lesson about adaptations of living things to the cold. Students watch a video about polar bear adaptations. Katherine asks the students to pair-share to discuss the question ‘What are some of the adaptations of polar bears to the cold?’ Students share with their A-B partner. Together they can formulate and express their ideas before Katherine checks for understanding by picking non-volunteers and discussing their answers. Her students are confident that they can provide examples of adaptations if they are called upon.
