When the teacher does not use engagement techniques effectively, students are not able to practise responses and skills and consolidate their understanding.
When teachers do not use engagement techniques, they are not providing students with the opportunity to demonstrate their learning to their peers. The teacher misses opportunities to celebrate learning and build students’ confidence through success.
