Teacher does not Track and Respond to Student Mastery

Teacher Jayson is teaching maths to his students. Some days he does not assign independent work because the lesson is taking too long. On other days, he does assign it and works with one or two students who need individual support to stay focused on completing the work. Jayson plans to check the independent work at the end of the week but does not always get it completed.

Jayson does not have the independent work data daily to be able to track and respond to each student’s mastery of the content. He does not know when students are not mastering the content and which students are showing gaps in their learning. Jayson only finds out whether students are mastering the content when he gives a mastery test. As most of his students do not pass, he must go back and remediate and retest his students, so they are unable to make standard growth.
