What Happens When Modelling Techniques are Delivered with Fidelity
Effective teaching incorporates a variety of modelling techniques into lessons, including pronounce with me, read with me, track with me and gesture with me, to increase engagement in the lesson.
Modelling techniques provide behavioural support and active participation as learning is happening. The effective use of modelling techniques increases student participation, allows students to gain self-confidence and ensures that lessons are engaging and interactive.
The teacher uses modelling techniques for students to rehearse a new word, a phrase or a gesture along with the teacher. Engagement is created by asking all students to do something at the same time. These techniques focus on reading, vocabulary use, listening, speaking and remembering.
