A Parent is Concerned Over the Cost of Instruments

Parent, Noah, has been invited by Teacher, Helena, to an after-school musical band performance put on by the secondary school. Noah’s son, Lucas, will be transitioning into secondary next year and has been interested in the musical program. Helena is working an informational booth for student prospects.

Helena engages with the community by, not only giving out information on the musical program, but also empowering parents to get involved by helping with band practice, volunteering with fundraising or simply just supporting their own child’s musical journey. Noah walks up to booth with Lucas, grabs all the essential papers and starts conversing with Helena. Noah really wants Lucas to be involved but expresses his concerns with the price of the instruments and how he can’t afford it on his income.

Helena explains that the school provides instruments to students on a rental basis for students who cannot purchase their own. She also tells him that most students rent the instruments because parents do not want to commit to buying one unless their child is 100% committed.

At the end of the school year, Lucas signs up for the musical program for next year. He puts his first and second pick musical instrument. Noah volunteers to help with band practice after school.
