RMSE-LA 5 Questions and statements,

adjectives and using position

Questions and statement

Students convert statements with two-word verbs into yes/no question in lesson nineteen.

Then they refer to the statement to identify the subject, predicate, noun in the subject and both words of the verbs.

Adjectives

Adjectives are introduced in lesson nineteen.

The rule students apply is: Adjectives come before nouns and tell about nouns. Students identify adjectives that are in the subject. The last word of the subject is a noun. Student mark the subject and predicate, then write the letters for the adjectives in the subject, noun in the subject and the verb.

Using position

In lesson thirty-eight students work with sentences that have blanks.

Students identify the part of speech for the blank word by its position in the sentence. They follow the rules: If the blank occurs before the noun in the subject, it is the last word of the subject, it is a noun. If it is the first word of the predicate, it is a verb.
