Teach Behaviour Expectations

In effective teaching classrooms, students build their skills from where they are, to where they need to be. This applies in subject areas and behaviour. Appropriate behaviour is taught explicitly and systematically.

Principals: Ensure that instruction is positive in classrooms and that students receive reinforcement for following the rules and working hard.

Teachers and Teaching Assistants: Teach expectations to students using examples and non-examples.

All staff: Contribute to teaching expectations, which are consistent across all common areas.

Students: Practice the desired behaviours until they become automatic.
