Overview of the 8 Cycles of

School Practice

The 8 Cycles of School Practice supports schools to embed practices that enable schoolwide effective teaching.

Each cycle has a set of evidence-based practices embedded across the school and in classrooms. Practices refer to continual actions and routines in which the school engages daily. When embedded with fidelity, the practices in these cycles facilitate improved teaching and maximum learning across the school.

The 8 Cycles of School Practice are highly effective because they:

focus on effective teaching and student learning

show how practices need to be systematically embedded in cycles to drive the continuous improvement

illustrate how school-level practices are part of cycles that operate at the classroom level

gives equal emphasis to the importance of teaching, and parental and community engagement.
