Coaching Community Engagement in

the School

The instruction coach supports community engagement in the school through the cycle of School Improvement Partnership.

It is important that the school team actively fosters community leadership through engaged parents. Parent and community relations develop positive high expectations for the school and community and lead to improved student results.

With the principal, the instruction coach organises the School Improvement Forum. The forum addresses the school’s progress, celebrates student success, sets school improvement priorities and the implementation of the School Improvement Plan.

1. Introduction 

The instruction coach Adam and the principal Stephanie draft and distribute the School Improvement Report and School Improvement Plan within the first week of the new term. These documents will form the basis of the School Improvement Forum. 

2. Review

During the school term, Adam and Stephanie hold the School Improvement Forum to review the School Improvement Plan and School Improvement Report with parents and the community.  

3. Resolve

The school leaders consult the forum on school progress and next steps for the school, including how parents can assist their students and the school that term. 

4. Reinspire 

Following the forum, Adam and Stephanie update the new commitments and information in the School Improvement Plan in consultation with the teaching team, parents and the community. Adam and Stephanie upload the new information to the School Improvement Plan.
