The Instruction Coach as School Leader

The instruction coach operates as a school leader when supporting the principal and teaching team with driving student success. The instruction coach’s main role is to help the teaching team deliver evidence-based programs to fidelity through effective teaching.

An instruction coach does this by:

conducting classroom observations, demonstrations, modelling, coaching and feedback to teaching team

coordinating student placement testing, student groupings, resource set up, schedules and staff training

embedding teaching and learning practices across the school using the 8 Cycles of School Practice.

supporting and helping lead the development of teaching capital within the school through peer collaboration
