8 Cycles and Professional Learning

The 8 Cycles of School Practice provide a guide for ongoing school improvement efforts. Within the cycles, there are four key zones. One zone covers professional learning. This zone includes Cycle 1 (School Professional Learning) and Cycle 2 (Classroom Coaching).

Cycle 1 enables the school to embed routines around planning, participating in and recording professional learning for leaders and the teaching team. The teaching team and instructional leaders pursue a formal school training program, or ongoing professional learning, that directly links the skills and knowledge they need to meet the needs of the student population.

Teachers and teaching assistants receive professional learning through training and coaching to build knowledge in effective teaching so that they can master effective teaching practices.
