Coaching the Behaviour Management Team

The coach is a valuable asset to the BMT. Their use of coaching best practices such as the Three Rs shapes the framework for each meeting.

1.Introduction

The coach analyses the Weekly Implementation Report or Weekly Data Review summary for actions and anomalies to highlight during the meeting.

2. Review

The BMT reviews one closed and one open action to celebrate past success, then apply experience with successful strategies to a current open action.

4. Re-inspire

The BMT commits to next steps in the plan that will close actions and address anomalies per the priorities of the Behaviour Management Plan.

3. Resolve

The BMT resolves one new and one recurring anomaly to identify obstacles and strategies to address these, and relevant training to revisit.

The coach supports the BMT in the following ways:

1. facilitating effective meeting strategies

a. scheduling meetings and preparing agendas

b. using the Three R’s Coaching Model during each session. ensuring all members have a chance to participate in the process.

2. promoting data-driven decision making

a. Reviewing the weekly implementation and data reports

b. Designing actions based on data. Monitoring progress.

3. sharing outcomes and team decisions

a. developing presentations for use in faculty meetings

b. supporting the principal in sharing and celebrating with the wider community.
