Repeat until Firm

Repeat until firm is an effective teaching technique. It is often indicated in the script and is based on the information needed about students. When students make a mistake, the teacher models the answer. The teacher repeats until firm to help students remember the answer or perform that sequence of responses correctly.

The process is:

  • Use repeat until firm after a sequence of tasks.
  • If a question or task is not answered correctly and fluently, such as counting, the teacher repeats the instructions and responses until students answer the series of responses without error.
