Direct Instruction Overview

Connecting Math Concept (CMC) is the premier Maths program produced by McGraw Hill for Years Prep to 5.  

The presentation features of Direct Instruction include the following:

• Scripted Instruction
What the teacher does and says are specified. This keeps instructional language consistent for students.
• Signals
A signal tells students when to respond.
• Pacing
Lessons are delivered at a perky pace with ten to fourteen students responses per minute.
• Motivation
Affirmations and specific positive praise are part of lesson presentation.
