Addition and subtraction facts

In the first step in the cycle of learning facts, students say the four facts for each family. They then write the answers to the addition and subtraction facts for the family.

The process

The process is:

  • The students say the addition fact that starts with the first small number.
  • The students say the other addition fact.
  • The students say the subtraction fact that starts with ____ and goes backward along the arrow.
  • The students say the other subtraction fact.
