Mastery test procedures

The mastery test takes approximately fifteen minutes. The teacher reads out the question from the script and students complete their answers on the mastery test handout.

The questions focus on the skills practised during guided and independent practice.

Answer key

An answer key is provided at the end of each mastery test script. The teacher corrects student work and identifies gaps in students’ understanding.

The teacher refers to the remediation exercises for each part of the mastery test and reteaches the concept or skill if necessary.

Students’ results are calculated with the CMC mastery test administered that week to give an overall percentage. Seventy-five per cent of the students need to achieve mastery for the group to progress through their lessons.
