New direction

A new teacher direction is given in part D of lesson one, exercise five.

The process is:

  • The teacher says, ‘Touch family B’ and scans students. ‘What are the small numbers for family B?’ and signals (auditory).
  • The teacher says, ‘What is the big number for family B?’ and signals (auditory) and repeat step D until firm.
  • The teacher repeats the steps until all students are firm.

To correct when an error is made when this direction is in the script the process is:

  • The teacher models the correct answer.
  • The teacher repeats the task the students missed.
  • The teacher returns to the beginning of the specified step and repeats the entire step.
  • The teacher  repeats the step again to make sure the students are firm.

Model

The big number for family B is K.

Test

What is the big number for family B?

Auditory signal

K

Retest

Let’s do those again.

Retest

You did it without any errors. Let’s do it again perfectly.

Turn to page 48 in CMC E Teacher’s Guide. Practise teaching lesson 1, exercise 5, right column only with student errors and in the bracketed section.
