Comprehension B1 lessons

Comprehension B1 lessons typically contain twelve exercises and take forty-five minutes. Each lesson is divided into two sections: group work and workbook exercises.

The group work section contains exercises that the teacher presents orally to the group. No reading or writing is involved and students respond orally.

The workbook contains exercises that the teacher presents to the group and exercises that students complete independently.

When students are finished, they check their work and total up their points for the complete lesson.

Comprehension B1 teaches these skills:

Reading comprehension is a complex process that requires a number of separate skills. Comprehension B1 teaches these skills:

  • reasoning skills tracks: deductions, evidence, analogies and contradictions.
  • information skills tracks: classification, body systems and body rules.
  • vocabulary skills track: definitions.
  • sentence skills tracks: parts of speech, sentence combinations and subject/predicate.
  • basic comprehension skills tracks: inference and following directions.
  • writing skills tracks: writing stories and writing directions.
