Script success

Scripted lessons reduce lesson-planning time. This means teachers can then use this time to practise their delivery.

‘Practise’ is more than reading over the script. The best way to practise is with a partner, who plays the part of the student. If that is not possible, practise aloud and record yourself on a computer so you can listen to yourself.

Teachers need to be familiar enough with the script to be able to make frequent eye contact with students and know which words require ‘pause and punch’.

Deliver the script in a normal speaking tone, but sometimes emphasise words through ‘pause and punch’, to draw attention to the important points.
