Sounds in Decoding B1

The stop sounds are b, c, ch, ck, d, g, h, j, k, p and t.

The teacher’s script and the pronunciation guide show a single letter for stop sounds as a reminder to say them quickly.

Stop sounds are pronounced quickly so the sound is not distorted. Early lessons show stop sounds with an arrow under them as a student reminder.

Teachers do not add a vowel sound to a quick sound; they say t, not tuh, g not guh.
