Auditory signal

Use an auditory signal when students are focused on their own books or worksheets. For example:

Touch part one. You’re going to say the sound for the underlined part and then read the word.

Focus
First word √

Teacher checks that every student is touching the first word.

Think time
Teacher pauses about two seconds.

Cue
What sound?

Interval
Teacher pauses one second.

Signal

Teacher gives and audible signal. The signal is any kind of ‘ap’, a snap, a clap, or a tap.
