Embedding Effective Teaching in the Classroom

Leadership and the teaching team share responsibility for the teaching and learning of all the school’s students.

In effective teaching, the implicit contract is that students pay attention and the teacher succinctly provides information and checks that they are firm in their understanding. It is a supportive relationship between the teacher and their students, which is facilitated by strong leadership.

Teachers model a strong learning culture to students. In the classroom, there is complete visibility of the effectiveness of instruction. Teachers use data to analyse how they can improve their practice and acknowledge student successes when effective teaching is achieved.

Teaching assistants support the delivery of effective teaching by setting up the classroom for teaching and supplying targeted learning to students who need it.
