Embedding the 8 Cycles of School Practice in the Classroom

The teachers and teaching assistants collaborate in the classroom domain to ensure the cycles are embedded in their classroom every day.

A teacher embeds the cycles of school practice by:

  • engaging in professional learning and development
  • using data to assess student progress and improve their practice
  • collaborating with their peers via lesson practice and observations
  • opening their classroom to visits from leaders, peers and families.

A teaching assistant embeds the cycles of school practice by:

  • prioritising their professional learning and development
  • forming a strong collaborative partnership with their classroom’s teacher
  • engaging in lesson practice and peer observations
  • participating in professional conversations on improvement actions.

Both teachers and teaching assistants place their highest priority on supporting and delivering effective teaching to accelerate student progress to mastery.
