Get It Going Signal

The Get It Going’ signal is used when students or teachers hold a specified number.

For example:
The teacher says: You’re going to get it going and count. You haaavvvve four.

The process of the Get It Going Signal is:

  • Focus: The teacher’s hand is in the stop position when talking.
  • Think Time: The teacher pauses for a couple of seconds after giving the directions.
  • Cue: Get ready.
  • Interval: The teacher pauses for one second.
  • Signal: The teacher circles their hand with their finger pointing up, and the students say ‘fffoooouuuur’. Then the teacher drops hand, and the students count on: ‘five, six, seven, eight, nine…’
