Direct Instruction Overview

Distar arithmetic 1 is a maths program produced by McGraw Hill for Prep students.

The presentation features of Direct Instruction reading are:

Scripted Instruction

What the teacher does and says is specified. This keeps instructional language consistent for students.

Signals

A signal tells students when to respond.

Pacing

Lessons are delivered at a perky pace, ten to fourteen student responses per minute.

Affirmations and specific positive praise are part of lesson presentation.
