Embed Positive High-Expectations Coaching

Overview

Embed Positive High-Expectations Coaching is a course module for school coaches that enables them to make the shift from implementing their school’s Behaviour Management Plan in year one to solidifying the school positive culture and ensuring sustainability in practices, programs, and procedures across years two and three. In this module, participants will learn strategies for improving school-wide buy-in, strengthening fluency in positive behaviour practices, building stronger cultural ties with the wider community, enriching Tier 2 and 3 interventions, monitoring and evaluating school-wide behaviour readiness, and enhancing their own professional learn to provide high-level coaching experiences in advanced behaviour management practices to the school team.

Learning intents

Provide leaders and teaching faculty with training and coaching as per the professional development plan. (MTP 2.1.05)

·       Maintain fidelity over student placement testing, groupings, resource setup and schedules. (MTP 2.1.06)

·       Participate with colleagues in professional conversations to improve teaching. (MTP 2.1.07)

·       Educate and influence parents on how they can increase their child’s learning opportunities. (MTP 2.1.08)

·       Plan training and coaching sessions to ensure all the school team is supported to deliver effective teaching. (MTP 2.2.05)

·       Maintain fidelity over classroom observations, demonstrations, modelling, coaching and feedback on effective teaching. (MTP 2.2.06)

Have professional conversations and clarify for teaching faculty how the school vision and values link to the operational tasks they carry out. (MTP 2.2.07)

·       Develop strategies to invite parents to sit in on students learning on classroom visits. (MTP 2.2.08)

·       Lead program practice session each week with the teaching faculty. (MTP 2.3.05)

·       Ensure that reflective practices, structured feedback, peer review and use of the teaching standards lead to personal improvement of teaching faculty. (MTP 2.3.06)

·       Embed collaborative practices in the school, allowing everyone to contribute to improvement. (MTP 2.3.07)

·       Encourage families to build consensus across the community and take individual responsibility for implementing changing. (MTP 2.3.08)

·       Establish innovative ways to gather feedback from families and community and support school practices. (MTP2.4.05)

·       Use technology to deepen parent engagement in student learning. (MTP2.4.06)

·       Lead the school staff to cultivate a mutually collaborative and trusting relationship with the community. (MTP2.4.07) Drive specific strategies for hard-to-reach parents. (MTP 2.4.08)

Assessment

  • Test: Knowledge and skills taught in the lessons.

Certification

Participants are eligible for certification based on completion of all activities and tests in the module.

  • Certificate of Completion: Complete online training and knowledge and skills tests.
