Creating Opportunities for Self-Reflection and Growth
The school coach embeds self-reflective practices with teachers around their behaviour management practices by turning self-reflection into a routine.
Coaching Session Reflection Questions
Opportunities for self-reflection with teachers can occur during coaching sessions. A coach includes one or two guiding questions that spark teacher reflection on their best practice in positive behaviour management.

- How have students adjusted to the procedures and routines in your classroom?
- How do you make sure students in class are busy learning and not misusing time?
- How do you check that students have understood your directions?
- How do you respond when it appears that a student is off task?
- How do students know that they are doing well in your class?
Digital Surveys
A coach may use surveys to prompt routine reflection as well. Digital surveys are an excellent tool that can provide coaches with an instant data set as well as teachers with the advantages of ease and privacy for completion.
