Models of Effective Teaching

There are three models of effective teaching:  

• Direct Instruction (Engelman et al.).
• Explicit Instruction (Anita Archer). 
• Explicit Direct Instruction (Hollingsworth and Y’barra).

Effective Teaching draws from these three models and the powerful research findings that support the use of Effective Teaching programs and techniques. 

Each of these models has features that are incorporated into effective teaching. Direct Instruction is the most robust model, so we will cover that first.
