The Body of the Lesson

Archer and Hughes (2011) describe the following steps for the body of a lesson:

Modelling or demonstrating the skill ‘I Do It’ – shows the student how to perform the skills clearly, consistently and concisely through demonstration, description and thinking aloud.

Prompted or guided practice ‘We Do It’ – guides students in opportunities to practise the skill whilst prompting physically, verbally or visually.
