Music For Learning

Overview
In Year 4 Unit 1, Pictures at an Exhibition, students develop an understanding of the elements of music through listening, exploring, responding, composing and performing activities. They focus on music written about, or inspired by, visual artworks. They learn through singing, notating and creating music in response to an artwork. Students are introduced to low la.
Students explore a variety of repertoire to build their skills in music literacy while learning to express their own voices and ideas in performing.
This unit aligns to the Australian Curriculum, Version 9:
- AC9AMU4E01 – Explore where, why and how music is composed and/or performed across cultures, times, places and/or other contexts.
- AC9AMU4E02 – Explore how First Nations Australians use music to communicate their connection to and responsibility for Country/Place.

Assessment
A single assessment occurs in Week 8 and consists of an oral presentation on how their composition represents to colour/mood/story of their chosen artwork.
