Capacity is not built, and the teaching team do not improve their practice

Capacity is Not Built, and the Teaching
Team do Not Improve their Practice
When instructional leaders do not schedule and allow the teaching team to observe delivery, the teaching team may not be aware of how other practitioners or peers deliver effective techniques. They do not have the opportunity to learn from practitioners who have mastered the technique they wish to improve. The teaching team continue with their practice unaware of how their teaching techniques contribute to the problems they encounter in the classroom or in thestudent mastery data or know how to address it.

What happens
The problem is compounded
Instructional leaders do not actively work to build capacity of the teaching team. They are not using the expertise, knowledge and wisdom of experienced practitioners to build capacity. The teaching team do not know now to make improvements, what actions to take, or if the improvement actions they take are effective. The teaching team become stagnant in their professional development as they are satisfied with the current practice. They become complacent or simply go through the motions.
