What Happens When Specific Group Errors are not Addressed with Fidelity

Recall that errors are an inevitable part of learning. Effective teaching requires the teacher to address specific group errors effectively.

When teachers do not address specific group errors, they cannot ensure that students are reaching mastery during every lesson. Students do not develop their knowledge, skills and abilities. Students’ self-confidence falters and they do not see themselves as capable or successful learners. Students are not firm in lesson content.

When teachers do not address specific group errors, they also cannot know exactly where students are having difficulties. When teachers do not implement a Good-bye List to address specific group errors, students are not aware of different parts of the lesson and are not aware of successes. When a teacher either does not address student errors or is inconsistent, students are not able to reach mastery and do not make expected growth.
