The Teacher Tracks and Responds to Student Mastery

The Impact

When teachers administer independent work they are able to respond to student mastery quickly after the lesson is taught. If students do not meet the mastery goals of the independent work, the teacher reteaches the parts of the lesson where they were not firm. The teacher can provide warm-up activities before the start of the next lesson to reinforce the skills that are not quite firm.
