Students are not Confident, Engaged Learners and do not Have Appropriate Behaviour

Impact

Students are not able to show their learning when independent work is not assigned. When a teacher does not monitor or correct their work daily, they do not get feedback on their work, which could build their self-confidence. Students do not learn if they are mastering the content or if they have some concepts or skills incorrect.

What Happens

The Problem is Compounded

Students do not do independent work on their own to show mastery of the content and skills. Students do not get specific positive praise during monitoring about their independent work. Students can be taken back in lessons due to their mastery not being verified when required. Students’ self-confidence drops because they are unable to show their mastery of the content through remediation and retesting. Learning gaps can occur, making it difficult to learn new information.
