Expert Coaching is not Delivered: Scenario
Instruction Coach Callie has not set an observation calendar for the school year. While she tries to conduct observations, she has not had a set schedule and Principal John had had Callie doing other duties to fill in for school-level vacancies. Now, in the 10th week of school, Teacher Meredith has a class that is not making expected progress and she’s not sure why. She approaches Callie, but Callie is not able to help Meredith reflect or identify evidence-based learnings because she does not have the context from classroom observations or an understanding of Callie’s class data. Callie leaves their brief check-in frustrated and unable to apply evidence-based learnings or make any meaningful changes in her classroom.
