What Happens When Apply Evidence-Based Learnings is not Delivered with Fidelity
As teachers use and embed effective teaching, they will require support to apply evidence-based learnings. If teachers do not receive expert coaching, or are not provided with support to identify and apply evidence-based learnings, then they do not improve their teaching practice.
Also, since applying evidence-based learnings involves the entire teaching team, when the practice is not implemented with fidelity, it means that teachers, instruction coaches and principals each play a role.
The Problem is Compounded
- Teachers and teaching assistants are not prepared to discuss what they are working on in the classroom and are not prepared to identify evidence-based learnings.
- The instruction coach does not lead coaching conversations and does not support teachers’ reflections on their use of effective teaching techniques.
- Evidence-based learnings are not identified or applied.
- The principal does not routinely schedule professional conversations between team members to reinforce a high-expectations culture as there are no evidence-based learnings to report or build on.
