What Happens When Practice Build Positive Expectations is Delivered with Fidelity

Building positive expectations with the community reinforces a positive high-expectations school culture for students, parents, the teaching team and leadership by regularly setting academic and behavioural achievement targets.

What It Achieves

Through this practice, the school team actively fosters community leadership through engaged parents and develops positive expectations for the school and community, leading to improved student and school results.

More Detail

The principal leads the development of the whole-school behaviour management policy with suggestions from the school team and the community. This policy cultivates positive expectations for the school through a mutual commitment to a Community Compact (CC) that sets out the community’s aspirations for their children and how the school can ensure the students get the best possible educational opportunity.

  • It is important for all team members to understand their role in the process of building positive expectations with the school community.
