Error Correction Enables Teachers to Track Errors and Respond to Student Mastery

When teachers use the full corrections procedure effectively, they monitor that student’s mastery of the lesson content so they can achieve standard growth and ensure that they practise skills correctly. By monitoring errors and providing immediate, direct corrective feedback teachers can evaluate and respond to each student’s mastery of the content.

By using the full correction procedure every time an error is made, the teacher can track errors and give corrective feedback as needed throughout the lesson. Tracking errors helps the teacher determine if students are consistently making errors on a particular skill and determine if several students are making the same error. After correcting errors, teachers provide students with individual turns and adjust their teaching as a result, by repeating an exercise or reteaching a particular skill.
