Specific Error Corrections
In addition to the general error correction procedure, there are specific error corrections for Direct Instruction programs. Some programs have boxed correction scripts in the Teacher Presentation Book page that fade over time as the teacher commits them to memory.
Explanations and correction scripts for Spelling Mastery can be found:
- in the Series Guide on pages 27–32
- at the beginning of each Teacher Presentation Book.

The consistency of the correction script helps students develop confidence in the predictably of corrections. This helps students develop surety and confidence and know that, rather than punishing, corrections help them to perform better.
