Students Unable to Complete Independent Work

While teaching a language for learning lesson, the teacher, Albert, notices that a few of his students are not fully engaging in the lesson. They are either dragging out their answers after the signal or not answering at all. Albert stops the lesson and asks the students to pay attention and answer on the signal. He then continues with the exercises in the lesson. He moves straight into independent work. As a result, students are unable to complete their independent work correctly. Albert does not remediate the situation or reteach the parts of exercise that students did not understand.
