What Happens When Enacting Behaviour Plans is Not Delivered with Fidelity

If behaviour plans are not enacted with fidelity, students struggle to improve their behaviour, teachers struggle to manage behaviours, and the learning environment is less productive. Teachers who do not develop or follow behaviour plans often rely on Tier 1 interventions only. These interventions are meant for the whole class and are not always effective for students who need more behavioural support.

If teachers do not enact behaviour plans with fidelity:

• students struggling with behaviour are not provided with the individualised support they need to improve
• teachers have less time for instruction because they are occupied with managing frequent behavioural interruptions
• students do not perform as well academically
• students struggle to adopt a continuous improvement mindset
• the classroom environment becomes less productive and conducive to learning.
