Students do not Actively Participate in the Lesson

When teachers do not use engagement techniques in their lessons, student participation drops.

The Problem is Compounded

Students become passive in their learning. They are not provided with the opportunity to formulate and discuss ideas or to practise responses and skills. Many students lose interest as they are not being asked to do anything with the content being taught. Passive learning means that it is less likely that students will be able to retain and recall information required to master the lesson content.
