What Happens When Following School-Wide Behaviour Plan Duties is Not Delivered with Fidelity

If a school fails to establish a clear vision, mission and values, members of the school team and students will be unsure what is expected. Team members do not know what their duties are related to student behaviours. Inappropriate behaviours are not addressed or recorded.

The Problem is Compounded

Teachers:

• fail to model the school’s vision, mission and values
• miss opportunities to build up students through regular acknowledgement of their effort and behaviour
• do not explicitly teach students what appropriate and inappropriate behaviours look like and what the consequences are
• fail to actively supervise and monitor students by moving around, looking around, and interacting with students
• do not reinforce appropriate behaviour
• do not address inappropriate behaviours in a timely manner
• fail to keep accurate, up-to-date records of behaviour incidents.
