Hold Weekly Lesson Practice
Instruction coach, Sam, has scheduled a thirty-minute weekly lesson practice session on Monday afternoon. In preparation, Sam reviews the observations he has conducted since the last practice session. He selects a specific technique that he thinks the whole team can improve on to be the focus of the practice. Sam has also organised the group into pairs of a less experienced teacher or assistant with a more experienced teacher or assistant. He welcomes them and explains the process for the practice. Sam sets a timer as a signal to switch roles, so that all members of the teaching team have an opportunity to practise the delivery of the lesson for that coming week at least twice. Sam monitors the lesson practice, providing support or advice as needed. At the end of the session, Sam answers any questions related to the lesson practice or techniques and provides targeted feedback.
