When the principal does not model and support positive high-expectations, implementation of the practices will lack fidelity. Establishment of values, rules and routines will be lacking, professional development for teachers will be unavailable and the success of high-expectations practices will not be overseen or measured.

The Problem Is Compounded

As a result:

• Positive high-expectations practices across the school do not improve.
• The school team, parents and students are not on the same page regarding expectations.
• Student behaviour declines.
• School team members do not receive related professional learning needed to deliver the practices with fidelity.
• Values, rules and routines are not established or modelled.
• Data is not used or is not available to make decisions and guide continuous improvement.
