The Principal Supports a Teacher Through Professional Learning

Eleanor, the instruction coach, meets with the principal, Brock, to discuss the concerns of Tanner. Tanner, a new teacher, is struggling with the direct instruction maths program Connecting Math Concepts. He is particularly struggling in the delivery of the instruction with hand signals while reading the script. They agree it would be best to schedule a professional learning session hosted by the company to all new teachers and invite experienced teachers who would like a refresher. When they have completed the learning session, they will then observe a peer teaching Connecting Math Concepts. Supporting their teachers will not only improve techniques but also student achievement.
