Increases Student Participation in the Lesson

When the teacher uses modelling techniques effectively, it increases student participation and ensures that they are actively involved in their learning.

The teacher identifies the modelling techniques that best suit the context, the lesson and the students’ needs. Students are required to perform a task together with the teacher. All students are active participants as they pronounce, read, track or gesture as a group. Using modelling increases the level of focused student talk. In particular, the use of gestures is an effective way to improve memory and the ability to recall information from long-term memory as they serve as triggers or anchors.
