Student Participation Drops

When teachers do not use modelling techniques in their lessons, student participation drops. Teacher talk increases as they direct and instruct students.

The Problem is Compounded

Students become passive in their learning. They are not provided with the opportunity to practise and rehearse responses and skills. Students disengage as the teacher has not captured and maintained their attention. When learning is passive, students are less likely to retain information.
