Students do not Build Self-Confidence

When teachers do not use modellling techniques, they are not providing students with the opportunity to rehearse a new word, a phrase or practise a skill along with the teacher. They have not used gestures to assist students in recalling information.

The Problem is Compounded

Without guided practice and repetition, students do not build the self-confidence that comes from knowing that they are firm in their understanding and being able to demonstrate skills consistently. When modelling techniques are not used and students are called on to perform a task or skill they hesitate, unsure if they are correct.
