What Happens When Modelling Techniques are not Delivered with Fidelity

What Happens When Modelling Techniques are not Delivered with Fidelity
When the teacher does not use modelling techniques, they are not embedding active participation of all students. The teacher does not provide the opportunity for students to rehearse new words or practise the correct pronunciation, pace and delivery with the teacher. As a result, learning is not reinforced.

The Problem is Compounded
When the teacher does not use modelling techniques, student participation drops. Students are not practising their verbal responses and skills with the teacher, which leads to a drop in self-confidence. When they are called on during individual turns or to read aloud in class, they are hesitant. When student participation drops, teacher talk increases which leads to less engaging lessons. Students become passive in their learning.
